கோழி பண்ணை வருமானம் 2026
Poultry Farming Side Income | வீட்டு முற்றத்திலேயே மாத வருமானம் | 42 நாட்களில் ஒரு பேட்ச் — Broiler Income That Lands Every Six Weeks
Move your mouse here
Six weeks. One shed. A side income that lands faster than almost anything else on this farm — this card tilts the way that cycle actually feels.
கோழி பண்ணை The Fastest Cycle on My Farm
நான் Kavin — Thalavadi, Erode. Goats taught me the value of a side income running alongside my crops. But goats still take 5–7 months to first sale. I wanted something faster — something that could turn over money every month or two, not every season.
Poultry was the answer nobody at the farmer meetings talked about much, probably because everyone assumes it needs huge sheds and big capital. It doesn't. A small broiler batch of 200–300 birds in a corner of unused shed space cycles in just 42 days. That's nearly 8 turnovers a year from the same small space — faster than any crop or livestock I run. This is what I learned setting mine up.

Niche, less competitionகொட்டகை & பராமரிப்பு Four Things I Never Skip Now
Deep litter shed
Dry, well-ventilated floorRice husk or sawdust litter 5–8cm deep, raised slightly off ground level with good cross-ventilation. Poor ventilation is the single biggest cause of poor weight gain I've seen nearby.
Biosecurity at the gate
Non-negotiableFootbath with disinfectant at the shed entrance, no outside visitors near birds, separate clothes for shed work. One disease outbreak can wipe an entire batch — prevention is the only real cure.
✅ Never skip thisVaccination schedule
Day 1, 7, 14, 21Newcastle disease and infectious bursal disease vaccines on a strict day-wise schedule from chick arrival — this is what most small-scale losses trace back to skipping.
Feed conversion ratio (FCR)
The number that decides profitTrack how much feed it takes to produce 1kg of bird weight — a good FCR (around 1.6–1.8) is the difference between a profitable batch and a break-even one.

Like the goat unit, poultry on my farm runs more than one income stream at once.
Live Bird Sales
Main income — sold at 42 days
Egg Income
If running layers alongside broilers
Litter Manure
Excellent compost input for crops
Day-old Chicks
Selling surplus chicks to neighbours
Live bird sales — the main stream
Sold at 42 days at 1.8–2.2kg — this is where most of the ₹25,000+ per batch comes from.
Egg income — if you run layers too
A small layer flock alongside broilers gives daily cash flow between broiler batch paydays.
Litter manure — savings, not cash
Used litter is rich in nitrogen — composted, it cuts the fertilizer bill on my crop side noticeably.
Day-old chicks — the upside
If you keep a small breeding flock, surplus chicks sell well to other small farmers starting out.

நோய் எச்சரிக்கை What Actually Causes Losses
Newcastle Disease
The big oneHighly contagious viral disease — strict vaccination schedule from day one is the only real protection.
⚠️ Vaccinate on scheduleHeat stress
Peak summer monthsGood ventilation and cool drinking water matter more than any supplement during Erode's hottest weeks.
Coccidiosis
Wet litter causes thisKeeping litter dry and changing it between batches is the real prevention, not medication after symptoms appear.
Outside contamination
Biggest risk factorMost disease outbreaks trace back to visitors or equipment brought in without disinfection — the footbath at the gate matters more than people think.

Shed and equipment are one-time costs not included above since most farmers use existing shed space. With government subsidy support reducing the shed and equipment investment significantly, the ongoing batch economics above are what actually repeat every six weeks.
அரசு உதவி Worth Checking Before You Start
TN Poultry Scheme
25% front-end subsidyThe Tamil Nadu government subsidizes 25% of the cost of setting up a poultry farm, implemented gradually across districts through the Animal Husbandry Department.
NABARD Additional Subsidy
Another 25% on topNABARD provides an additional 25% subsidy alongside the state scheme, with the remaining cost covered by the beneficiary's own funds or a bank loan.
வேகத்தின் மதிப்பு What the Cash Flow Doesn't Show
Every other income stream on this farm makes me wait — months for crops, half a year for goats. Poultry is the one piece that turns over in six weeks, which means even a string of small batches starts to feel like steady monthly income rather than one big seasonal payday. That rhythm is worth more to me right now than any single batch's profit number.
